COLIN SELF is an artist, composer and choreographer based in New York and Berlin. He creates music and performance pieces designed to expand consciousness, trouble binaries and play with the boundaries of perception. Self works with a broad range of communities using voices, bodies, and computers as tools to interface with biological and technological software.
Self is a teacher at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute in Berlin and has presented work at The Dutch National Opera, HAU Berlin, The New Museum, MoMA PS1, The Kitchen NYC and Issue Project Room, among many international festivals and venues. He is a Rhizome Commission Grant recipient for his video project ClumpTV, and a Queer Art Mentorship Fellow. He served as an Eyebeam Resident in 2016 and a resident fellow at Etopia for FUGA in Zaragoza, Spain in 2018. He is a co-founder of the New York City queer performance collective Chez Deep and The Radical Diva Grant. He received his MFA in music and sound from Bard’s Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts.
After devoting the last 7 years to her practice in theatre, dance, and performance art, DAVIA SPAIN is returning to her roots in music. Her forthcoming debut album explores how her classical training in jazz vocals can meld with her love for various styles of electronic music. From chamber music to deep house she reclaims all of it as intrinsically black and queer.
XINA XURNER is an experimental music/performance collaboration between Marvin Astorga and Young Joon Kwak, whose cathartic performances combine DIY and power electronics, mutated vocals, and bad drag to expand ideas about queer and trans bodies. Their music combines a variety of genres (including happy hardcore, industrial, drone metal, and techno-opera), in order to create sadical and sexperimental noise-diva-dance anthems that evoke a sense of death, decay, and transformation. Xina Xurner released their debut album “DIE” in 2012 and their follow-up “Queens of the Night” was released in April of 2018. Xina Xurner will make you sweat.
ALEXIS PENNEY is an artist, witch, Aquarius and mutant currently based in Los Angeles, CA. They are the Lead Caretaker at NAVEL, teach movement and meditation and have been DJing and curating performance since 2008.
